Yoga Teacher Training 2OO hour

We are honored to be hosting the ShivaShakti School of Yoga for a 200-Hour Yoga Teacher Training at Dharma Door.
April 11- September 7, 2014
One weekend a month for 7 months. (April 11-13, May 2-4, May 30-June 1, June 20-22, July 18-20, August 15-17, Sept 5-7) Weekend format: Friday-Sunday 7:30am- 6pm
This training is a comprehensive and affordable Yoga Alliance approved 200-hour level program. This course is also approved by the Vermont Student Assistance Corporation (VSAC) for non-degree grant funding.
The course is designed to initiate students fully onto the path of yoga and prepare one to teach others with authenticity and heart.
The ShivaShakti 200-Hour YTT includes:
• Technical study and teaching practice of asana (standing poses, forward bends, twists, back bends, side bends, inversions, and balances) with a focus on vinyasa (flow,) safe and fluid sequencing and alignment
• Technical study and teaching practice of pranayama (breathing exercises)
• Daily practice of meditation, mantra and kirtan (chanting)
• Physical and energetic anatomy and physiology
• Yogic philosophy and an introduction to the Sanskrit alphabet
• Teaching methodology and practice including verbal and hands-on assists
• Exploration of various major lineages/styles of yoga
• Introduction to Ayurvedic dietary and lifestyle practices
Become a yoga teacher and/or deepen your yoga practice. Study with inspiring faculty who bring many years of practice and teaching experience in the fields of yoga, meditation, anatomy, western medicine, Ayurveda, music, philosophy and the healing arts to the training. Take a break from the stresses of a busy life and connect with other yoga practitioners in a nurturing, holistic environment while delving deep into the heart of yoga. Explore the teacher within, discover your authentic self, and become certified as a yoga instructor.
This course meets for one 3-day weekend per month for a total of 6 weekends, allowing ample time to assimilate and practice the teachings between weekends.

Curriculum Contact Hours:
105 hours Techniques—including demonstration, alignment, practice and theory of ShivaShakti yogasana, pranayama, meditation, mudra, and bandha. Introductions to other styles of yoga are taught.
25 hours Anatomy and Philosophy—A scientific, hands-on approach to human A&P in regards to yoga practice. Includes the therapeutic application of yoga on various systems of the body.
30 hours Philosophy—lectures provide the student with a foundational understanding of yogic history, thought and methodology. Topics covered include Raja Yoga, Karma Yoga, Jnana Yoga, Bhakti Yoga, Tantric Yoga, Taoist Yoga, Kundalini, Vedanta, 3 Granthis, 3 Gunas, Nada Yoga, energy anatomy, Ayurvedic principles, Sanskrit, Mantra, etc.
30 hours Teaching Methodology—Various aspects of teaching asana, including demonstration, observation, correction, sequencing, voice, etc. The student will learn correct alignment, adjustments and assists for all basic ShivaShakti yogasana. Sequencing of poses, classes for various ability levels, and oral presentation are included in this class. Creating the proper environment for a class and teaching ethics are also covered. Includes some practice teaching.
10 hours Practicum
Teacher trainees gain experience teaching under the guidance of the staff. The student will gain experience teaching in small groups and receiving feedback from instructors and peers. A self-care component is also included, offering the student a chance to work more deeply on him/herself.

VSAC funding is often exhausted in the late winter/early spring months so applying early greatly increases one chances of being awarded a grant.
